Field & Logistics Specialist, Florida

Location: Winter Park, FL. Remote with occasional on-site work and travel.
Type: Contract, Part-Time

 

About the Role

Poppy is looking for a technically-savvy, motivated science or engineering specialist — undergraduate or postgraduate students welcome — located in Winter Park, Florida with a desire to gain experience related to the intersection of building engineering, environmental sustainability, public health, and customer service.

About You

You are an excellent communicator with extreme accountability and a knack for paying attention to detail, who’s looking for hands-on, contract-based experience at the earliest stage of a tech/biotech startup. You deliver high-quality work when you say you will, and are eager to try your hand at being responsible for the success of field work based projects.

 

Your availability is flexible and can accommodate working an average of 15 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend availability. During peak periods, 25+ hours per week and travel within the United States is likely.

What You’ll Do
  • Prepare, pack and ship Poppy kits to customers and partners

  • Perform quality control inspections on Poppy Hardware products

  • Basic IT programming and setup of Poppy Hardware 

  • Work with Poppy’s teams to plan and execute airflow tests

  • Travel to customer sites to collect information about their building’s HVAC, occupancy and conduct airflow test projects

  • Attend training sessions and conduct independent trials to ensure accuracy and guarantee success prior to deploying at a customer site

  • Learn and closely follow established protocols for data collection

  • Interact with customers and act as a liaison on behalf of Poppy Health

  • Collaborate in a team environment to provide the best Poppy experience

What We’re Looking For
  • Academic and/or professional background in following precise protocols, e.g. science, engineering, nursing, environmental testing, architecture

  • Previous experience in customer service

  • Excellent time management skills, verbal communication skills and attention to detail

  • Know the importance of following protocols and making logical judgment calls

  • Willingness to adapt and improvise as necessary

Bonus Points For
  • Background in HVAC, architecture and the built environment, or sustainability engineering

  • IT programming skills

  • Valid drivers license & car (not required if Uber/Lyft is available in your area)

  • Willingness and ability to travel for work within the United States

  • You like creating social content to educate people on important issues
