The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Energy Sales Executive to drive revenue growth across key North American markets. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-growth proptech company with proven technology, strong customer traction, and significant acquisition interest from major players.

The ideal candidate will bring 8+ years of B2B sales experience in commercial real estate and HVAC systems, with a proven track record of selling complex technical solutions to sophisticated buyers including asset managers, property managers, and facility engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Execution
-
​Drive full sales cycle from prospecting through closing for Poppy's energy optimization services
-
Generate and qualify new leads through cold outreach, networking, and referrals
-
Conduct on-site energy assessments and technical presentations to building stakeholders
-
Develop and present customized energy savings proposals with ROI analysis
-
Negotiate and close shared savings agreements and performance contracts
-
Expand relationships within existing accounts to drive portfolio-wide adoption

Market Development

Target high-potential markets including Boston, DC, Chicago, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and secondary markets

Build relationships with key decision makers: asset managers, directors of property management, sustainability officers, and facility engineers
-
Travel extensively to meet prospects face-to-face and conduct building assessments
-
Represent Poppy at industry conferences and networking events
-

Consultative Selling
-
Navigate complex sales processes involving multiple stakeholders (property managers, asset managers, engineers, sustainability teams)
-
Provide technical expertise on HVAC systems, energy optimization, and building performance
-
Collaborate with our Chief Engineer (international ASHRAE leader) on technical requirements
-
Maintain detailed CRM records and provide accurate sales forecasting

Required Qualifications
-
Experience
-
8-10+ years of B2B sales experience in commercial real estate and/or HVAC systems (with CRE customers)
-
Proven track record of meeting/exceeding annual sales quotas of $2M+
-
Experience selling to commercial real estate personas: asset managers, property managers, facility managers, sustainability officers
-
Technical background in HVAC systems - should be able to discuss ventilation, controls, and building automation systems with facility engineers
-
Experience with complex, consultative sales cycles (6-12 months)

History of selling performance-based or ESCO (Energy Service Company) solutions is a bonus

Industry Knowledge

Deep understanding of commercial real estate operations and decision-making processes

Knowledge of HVAC systems, building automation systems (BAS/BMS), and energy management

Familiarity with major HVAC manufacturers (Siemens, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, etc.)

Understanding of energy efficiency, sustainability initiatives, and ESG requirements
